We are proud to announce that Christine Balarezo, Program Associate at Collective Liberty, is an 2020 NGen Fellow. The American Express NGen Fellows Program gives emerging nonprofit and philanthropic leaders an exceptional opportunity to strengthen their capacity for future impact. The nine-month leadership development program for changemakers will help Christine strengthen her leadership capacity and build connections with some of the social sector’s most influential leaders.


Christine is a human trafficking scholar with ten years of experience in the field and expertise in mixed-methods trafficking and policy research. She specializes in advocacy on the trafficking of minorities, as well as the sexual exploitation of males. At Collective Liberty Christine focuses on organization processes and policies,  human trafficking research and data; and providing subject matter expertise on human trafficking. 
Every year the American Express NGen Fellows program, part of the American Express Leadership Academy, selects 12 individuals to participate in a nine-month leadership development program. The program centers on six core results and by the end of the Fellows experience, changemakers will have furthered their practice of adaptive leadership, self-awareness, racial equity, system change, developing a network of peers, and using a results-based frame.The NGen fellowship is part of the Independent Sector’s NGen: Moving Nonprofit Leaders From Next to Now program builds the capacity of nonprofit and philanthropic leaders age 40 and under to have a significant impact on society’s toughest challenges. Independent Sector is a national membership organization that brings together a diverse community of nonprofits, foundations, and corporations. Last year in 2019, the CEO of Collective Liberty, Rochelle Keyhan, was a finalist for the NGEN Leadership Award. The award honors one outstanding next-generation leader with a positive impact on the community they serve.
